The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Yes, as I told you in the lucia-post I went to see The Hobbit. I have been looking forward to the movie since they only was rumours that it would be made. But i was also a bit afraid about the high frame rate I have heard so much about, like how it takes time to get used to and that you can get a bit nauseas. I was also afraid if they really would be able to fit three movies in one book without the story getting to thin. I didn't have to be so afraid!

It was beautiful really! The same feel that previous movies gave with awesome scenery and a interesting story. The high frame rate didn't make me feel nauseas at all but made the picture a lot clearer than it usually is, especially in a 3D movie. You could really see everything!

When it comes to the story everything was still really nicely done. It is obvious that there is going to be another, the main quest isn't done, and they had a great cliff hanger at the end. But still they really succeeded with getting all the things together in the story as well.

When it comes to characters I got especially happy about all the dwarfs, they are really funny and each individuality is really shown in the movie. They also succeed great with the game that Bilbo plays with Gollum and the way Gollum response.

I haven't read the book even if I have read the fellowship of the ring. I wasn't really that interested in it.But I still think I know one or two facts from it that I have picked up from friends and the movie matches my picture of the story really well. After I saw the movie I also want to read it, and I want to do so in English. So when I have money I am really going to buy a copy and try it out ^__^

The Secret Garden

Even with such a hectic life as mine, there is still time to read. I have finally read through The Secret Garden for the first time and I love it! i have loved the story since I was little and saw the movie but it isn't before now I got the energy to read the book also.

The book is about the difficult child Mary who has grown up spoiled in India. When her parents dies she is send back to england and Misselthwaite manor in Yorkshire. She finds herself alone a lot and no one care for her temper and wishes anymore.  There isn't so much to do than stay outside and play each day, and search for the secret garden she hears whispers about. Slowly, like the start of spring, she is starting to change for the better. Maybe she will find something else as well?

The story is wtitten in 1911 but is still interesting to read. It is filled with humor, magic and hope and a great story for both children and grown ups. It is a fabulous story that I really can commander.

Inspiration to read and write

A blog I follow posted today a text about urban fantasy from a seminar the writers (the blog itself is a bookshops official blog) had held in Göteborg on the annual book fair and I found it rather interesting. Of course almost everything I alreday knew, I read a lot of urban fantasy, but some of it was new to me, especially the information about how the genre came to life already in the 1980's. It is also a good introductions for those who doesn't know as much about fantasy in gerneral as I do.

Somehow the text got me to want to read again, it has been a while since I had the time to just sit around and read because I like it. Mostly all of my reading time right now goes to thick volumes of literature for my courses and after that I don't have the energy to read the things I want.

It also got me thinking beacuse almost the same thing happened yesterday. I read the new issue of NEO and suddenley I wanted to watch anime again, I even found a couple of short anime series that looked interesting. Later on yesterday I watched Clash of the Titans with my finacé and his friend and suddenly I found myself googeling greek mythology on my phone and started to picture stories in my head based on the things I found

Somehow I want to get creative again and do stuff that I like and that makes me happy, at the same time I finds myself lacking the energy to really do so. Maybe it is the season? I always get lonely and sad during the autumn so maybe this is a way to keep myself busy?

I just looked out through the window and saw the sun shining and now I want to take my camera and take some autumn pictures. Maybe that is something I can do without ruining my more important assignments? At least I can try!

Exams and new books

Yesterday I had a one day exam and I wrote in total 2260 words about the history of the Swedish school system in less than 8 hours. So tired afterwards  I really hope I am going to pass, otherwise I am going to have to write a supplement :/

Today the next part of the course is starting with a lecture on international perspectives that sound interesting and hopefully it isn't going to be as much problems this time as it was with last weeks lectures. I don't want to study today actually, yesterday was enough for the whole week according to me, but if I have to I will do it, like all the other times! Fighting!

On another note I got my book package two days ago containing one textbook for school, two manga; Happy Hustle High 4&5, and a urban fantasy called Shadow's Fall by Dianne Sylvan. I don't really know which one I am most happy about. It is about time that I bought the last two of the Happy Hustle High-series, the first one I bought a lot of years ago but then I started reading the manga online and haven't made the time and money to buy the last two. Now I finally have and the series is complete!

On the other hand have I already read two of Dianne Sylvan's Shadow World books and now I have the third one. And this on I haven't read already (unlike the manga) so I am looking forward towards it! Hopefully I can get some fictional reading in between the studying.

I am at least really sure that the book I am the least happy about is the most expensive one, the textbook. It is called Lära till Lärare and in the beginning of this semester I found it in the library and thought I didn't have to buy it. But it is a lot of the pages that we have to read and my loan period expired and someone wanted the book after me, so the easiest way was to buy it instead.

And here I am, with a couple of new books, no space left in my bookshelf, almost no money left and tired. Maybe it is time I stop pity myself and try to get the energy back? I have to try anyhow, my lecture starts in less than an hour. At least I got to sleep late this morning!
