Hotel King

Today I finished watching the new k-drama Hotel King. The reason I started watching the drama was because I got interested in Lee Dong-wook through the show Roommate and thought I would check it out! 

I really liked Hotel King, it had all of the things I love about k-dramas: love, action, intriguers and plot-twists. The last is something the drama have a lot of. Yes, some parts (no spoilers!) I figured out before hand but some were also big main parts of the story and changed everything! And you need to have these twists in the story if you are going to stay and keep watching all of the 32 episodes. 

The story revolves around two main character, Ah Mo-ne and Cha Jae-wan. Cha Jae-wan is the hotel king, or hotel monster as his co-worker calls him. He works at Ciel Hotel as the General Manager and is well known for his high standards and work ethics and is trying to hide his bad past. In fact his past is the reason he is working at Ciel to begin with. He is trying to seek vengeance for the last 20 years or so and above all else he hates the chairman of the hotel and wants to take it away from him. But the chairman dies and his daughter Ah Mo-ne arrives at Ciel and tries to take over the position as chairman. Something Cha Jae-wan isn't going to like... 

One of the shows best qualities was all the good actors. The two main characters Cha Jae-wan and Ah Mo-ne (Dong-Wook and Lee Da-hae) really have chemistry and you are really rooting for them. Lee Deok-hwa, who plays the evil Lee Jong-goo are a mastermind! I really didn't like his character at all! And then we have Baek Mi-nyeo (Kim Hae-sook in real life) a character that changes drastically a couple of times. Kim Hae-sook really succeed to act as her character and change with her, a couple of here scenes have the potential to become ridiculous if she wasn't as good as she is. 

Another thing besides the actors that I enjoyed in this drama was the wardrobe! All of the people is so well dressed all of the time. It doesn't matter if they have a maid uniform, a suit or big printed dresses with a lot of colors. Noting is to much or out of place. Half of the time I found myself admiring just how well-fitted a suit jacket or a blouse was instead of concentrating on the plot and story. 

I have one big negative aspect to point out as well. For me the drama felt really long! and with 32 episodes it kind of is as well. K-dramas is well known for the drama and deep story. Something that you also have to control. Hotel King could have had just 20/24 episodes and still be a great story. The last ten episodes or so just felt like the had to fit the story to the bigger number of episodes and therefore added stuff to the plot to try to keep it interesting. It felt as if there were to much if you understand what I am trying to say? 

But anyhow, I liked the drama a lot (I did finish it, didn't I?) and you got your happy ending, just not exactly how I had written it myself. 

Say "I love You"

I have finaly started watching anime again! It has been so long sience the last time, I doesn't even remeber when. But I found a anime that really sounded nice and now I have watched all the episodes out yet. 

The serie is called Say "I Love You" and is a sweet love story about a girl, Mei, who is really quiet and doesn't have a lot of friends and a guy, Yamato, who is really popular with the girl but haven't found the one yet. One day Mei explodes over another guys prank and she tries to roundhouse kick him but end up hitting Yamato instead. Yamato is surprised and starting to getting interesting in the wuiet Mei after the way he saw here emotions explode and he wants to get closer to her.

This is the start on there love story. The anime is a shojo with a lot of romance and a slice of life-feeling over it. Some maybe would think that it is boring just focusing on there relazionship but this is the kind of story that I can find so much feeling in. When the story is calm and sweet it is easy to compare your own feelings to the ones in the serie. 

Another thing I like is the boldness that is lying underneath the story. Already in the first episode there is talk about sex and a lot of kissing going on. I really like a story that begins with kisses and not ends with it, it makes it more realistic and matches my thoughts about love.

So are you after a sweet love story with a lot of usual twists? watch Say "I Love You". I myself is maybe going to start reading the manga by Hazuki Kanae while I am waiting for the next episode on crunchyroll.

Sherlock Holmes Weekend

We had a Sherlock Holmes theme this weekend. First we saw the new TV-series Elementary and I think it is lovely. They have taken Sherlock Holmes to the present day and move him to New York and Watson is a girl! Even with all the changes Sherlock is still the right way, a little bitter and to smart for his own good.

After the three episodes of Sherlock we also watched the two movies with Robert Downey Jr. Again. They are also nice, I know I have been writing about the second one before. But short I can say that I like the puzzle in them, and the humour and the wardrobe. The last one I think makes me like them most! All the clothes is so neatly and nicely done!

Beside watching TV I have also been playing DS and the new Pokémon but of course I am a lot after my fiancé right now (T__T) We also tried Dance Central 3 and played trough the story, I think it was really fun! And in some of the songs I had the opportunity to feel better than my all-around-gamer-fiancé, I doesn't happen very often.

We also spend some hours at a birthday party, my fiancés grandfathers mother was celebrating here 90th birthday and I got to meet a lot of there family. They served a sandwich cake and three different sweet ones. Sandwich cake eh? It is so hard to explain in English because I don't know if there is something alike out there. But in short it is a "grown-up" cake that is made of bread and all different food and decoration. Shrimps, ham and egg is usually standard as you can see. It is a way to serve food instead of only sweet cakes and you eat it with fork and knife. It is one of my favourite things to eat!

So, that was in short my weekend, now it is time to start up the school work again. Fighting!

Arrow - S1 Ep1

I have been hoping that I would find some good TV-show to follow and comment on from the beginning but all the series I have been interested in is to long gone allread. But now maybe I have found it. I watched the first episode of Arrow togheter with my fiancé this week and I feels promesing.

It is not a secret that we the last years have been interesting in super hero movies, it is a genre we both like (even if he is more knowledgeable than me) and want to watch so it is an easy way to spend good, happy times together. Anyhow, when I heard about Arrow, an tv-series that is built on the story of Green Arrow, it wasent hard to know that this was something we had to try watch together.

It is always some trouble when they make a TV-adaption on a super hero, they tend to change so much from the story to fit the budget, script and production and not the other way around (even if I have to say that a lot of the new super hero movies is great!). My fiancé was afraid that they would change Green Arrow to much, I myself wasn't that scared, I don't have so much earlier experience with Green Arrow as he and it is harder to get disappointed if you don't have preconceptions about the deitails. 

Anyhow, I do think we both liked the first episode, I am sure I did at least. It was not to childish but not to dark or to advanced either. I think that if they do it right a lot of people can like it regardless of how much they know about it before hand. The story is easy to understand even if you don't know all of it yet and the man that plays Arrow/Oliver Queen (Stephan Amell) is nice to look at. Even people that doesn't really care about comics can find something to like I think.

So hopefully I will continue watch and can make some updates here about it. I would be happy if I am correct and this is going to be something good but one episode isn't always enough to know. We just have to wait and see.

Glee

I thought it was time to write about another of my favourite TV-series. This time I get inspired to write about Glee after watching the latest episode. But the thought was that in this post I was going to introduce you to the show, not talking about the latest episode, so here goes:

Glee started to air in 2009  and is now in its 4th season. The show got a lot of viewers from the beginning but now I think it mostly is teenagers and young adults that is interested because the show itself is about teenage life, high school and being different.

Yes, it is the being different, an outcast or an underdog that from the beginning is the main theme in the show. A group of these not so popular people starts to hang out through the schools glee club and some of the more popular kids, that wouldn't even speak to them before, joins as well (not everyone voluntarily). In the beginning the difference in the group leads to hardships, fights and disagreements but eventually Mr. Schuester, the Glee club director gets the group to work together trough music.

Yes, the show is a musical, but not in the mossy kind of way. The main point in Glee is the story and then the add the music to fit. In the beginning it got me thinking about Disney and how they in there animations add the element of music to get the story to evolve. Glee is a lot like that, singing about being different, expectations, love and hardships as a way to develop and for me this is really really interesting. 

But on of the most interesting parts in the series isn't the singing or dancing, even if the cast does that really well, no it is the intrigue when you put a lot of different people in the same group and how the people you at least expected to see together becoming friends and gets a deeper understanding of each other, something that they never even expected to understand before.  In Glee these individuals starts to form a group despite if they are cheerleaders, gay, nerds, divas or have disabilities and is stuck in a wheelchair, and It makes me happy and hopeful to see scenes like that. 

Somewhere I heard that Glee has made the nerd the new cool, and maybe that is somewhat true. Thinking about it you can see an wave of glasses, suspenders, bow-ties and intelligent getting the spotlight, but I can't possible say that Glee is the reason for this, it could also be the other way around. Either way it is something new for the industry and for me I think it is something good. The show has a good message and if kids and teenagers can see on TV that it is okey to be different then I cant see any harm in that. And in the mean time I will be entertained.

Hemma igen

Igår var det alltså åter dags att resa, och liksom många andra av mina dagar var denna dag innehållsrik. Det började med att man vaknade i panik och kommit ihåg att man glömt att ställa klocka. Det visade sig inte vara några problem då jag vaknade en timme innan den avsadda tiden. Morgonen spenderades med att äta och göra sig klar inför resan. Främst att lyckas packa väskan så bra som möjligt. Jag fick i alla fall en full IKEA-kasse över med saker jag inte hade plats med, så den står fortfarande säker hemma hos mina föräldrar inför nästa resa eller besök.

Jag hade megatur att J-chan kunna skjutsa mig till tåget eftersom att det innebar att jag och mamma inte behövde lösa något med bil och bilnycklar som antagligen skulle krångla på ett eller annat sätt :/ Hon var helt i tid vilket gjorde mig väldigt glad då jag har en tendens att stress så fort jag ska förlita mig på någon annan. Sorry J-chan men det gäller inte bara dig! <3

I vilket fall bar det snart iväg med tåg eftersom både vi och det var i tid ^__^ väl på tåget möttes jag dock av kaos. Väskor stod i alla gångar och på alla hyllor och framför alla lediga stolar. Tydligen hade en man dessutom tagit min plats och sa att jag inte skulle få sitta där då allt krånglade för alla. Det visade sig att han ljög något och det var bara hans platsbiljett som hade krånglat då det blivit någon form av dubbelbokning. Efter ett litet samtal med "konduktörskan" så fick jag min sittplats med tillhörande eluttag så jag kunna ta fram datorn och plugga lite.

Tyvärr hamnade jag nog bredvid den pratigaste mannen på hela tåget, vi satt och pratade om lite allt möjligt ända ner till Uppsala där han skulle kliva av. Bland annat fick jag höra lite historier från det att han var militär. Han berättade också att hans dotter jobbade som lärare och vi samtalade lite om vilka problemelever det finns nu för tiden.Blev alltså inte så mycket plugg som jag hoppats på >____<

Det gick i alla fall i övrigt bra, inga förseningar för tåget i Stockholm, inga elaka människor och inget krångel med packningen. Däremot såg jag ett par sj-tjänstemän (eller vad man nu ska kalla dem) som stog på centralen och bara verkade fungera som hjälp för de som inte hittar, inte kan läsa svenska skyltar m.m. Det är nog ett jobb jag skulle gilla att ha. Att bara stå där hela dagarna och känna mig lite viktig och snäll genom att stå till tjänst för alla dessa olika människor. Jag skulle lätt fixa det, ett litet leende här, en liten beskrivning där och så kanske något litet "lycka till" så har jag tjänat ihop mina egna pengar samtidigt som jag underlättat dagen för någon annan. Verkar ju toppen ^__^

I vilket fall, resan från Centralen var händelselös och smidig. Satt bredvid en annan tjej i min ålder som verkade väldigt ointresserad av att prata, så då gjorde jag inte det. Höll på att somna precis när jag skulle av men av kom jag xD Sen fick jag ont i armen av att dra väskan från stationen, det var så skönt att komma hem.

Det blev en sväng in i duschen och ett försök till att packa upp och sen ringde telefonen. Det var en telemarketing-kille som praktiskt taget satt och ljög för mig. innan jag visste ordet av spelade jag in ett avtalsmanus. Jag har ju lite förkunskaper om sådan så insåg ganska snabbt mitt misstag men då var det försent. Det blev helt enkelt till att ringa Tele2 och begära att de skrev tydlig kommentar i systemet att jag ej vela genomföra någon förändring. Förhoppningsvis så fungerar det men jag vet ju hur det fungerar på de där ställena. Telefonköerna kostade mig också sammanlagt ca 40 kr, känns lite jobbigt bara det...

Men efter det kom äntligen M över till mig och gjorde dagen lite bättre. Så efter att jag klängt runt hans hals i massa minuter kokade jag soppa och sen kollade vi på Angel resten av kvällen. Var skönt att bara sitta bredvid honom även om det var tydligt att han var väldigt trött efter en dag på jobbet. Vi gick och lade oss tidigt och jag sov som en stock min vana trogen. Jag har saknat att sova bredvid honom mest av allt!

Dream High

De senaste dagarna har varit väldigt tråkiga, fyllda med skolplugg och ensamhet. Jag har vid dessa tillfällen lyckas klämma in en hel del dramakollande åter igen, efter några månader utan aktivitet. Serien jag bestämde mig för att ge mig på var k-draman Dream High.

Historien handlar kort om ett gäng elever som av en eller annan anledning hamnat på en musikinriktad skola. Alla har de olika förutsättningar när de kommer dit, med olika bakgrund, men de har en gemensam dröm. Att bli bättre än alla andra. Man får sedan följa deras mot- och medgångar, bråk och vänskap och utvecklingen av dem själva.

Jag var lite orolig i början då jag hört väldigt olika tankar om serien från andra som sett den, men jag fastnade ganska snabbt. Till och börja med så tilltalades jag av musiken, det var skönt med en riktig k-popig serie. Vad som snabbt kom därefter är att det handlar om så pass många karaktärer men på ett sätt som det hela inte blir rörigt. Antalet och spridningen av karaktärer och sidohistorier gör att serien går i från det vanliga "kille möter tjej"-scenariot som är så vanligt i dramor. Istället för att handla om en förvirrad kärlekshistoria handlar Dream High främst om vänskap, drömmar och musik.

skådespelarna då? Det kändes ju som om det skulle bli lite knepigt och att det fanns i alla fall någon man inte tålde. Speciellt rädd blev jag när jag hörde att IU var med, jag är inte särskillt förtjust i henne då hon ofta känns för söt och perfekt. Jag blev glatt överraskad, både av IU och av de övriga skådespelarna. IU's karaktär var nästan den jag gillade absolut mest i serien, hon var lagom mjuk och söt men hade samtidigt sina skavanker, klumpighet och blyghet. Fast jag tror att hon nästan var sötare när hon var tjock (se serien så fattar ni).

Många av de andra skådespelarna kommer även de från Koreas musikvärd, främst kanske Suzy (Miss A), Taecyeon (2PM), Wooyoung (2PM) & Eun Jung (T-ara) då dessa spelar några av huvudrollerna. Kända namn och kända band. Det var roligt och intressant att se dem i en skådespelarroll och det kändes som man fick en lite bakgrundsblick till hur de själva ser på musiken. Hur mycket av det som var spelat kan man ju aldrig vet men man får ju alltid fantisera.

Kanske det jag gillar allra mest med serien är det bakomliggande budskapet att man ska kämpa hårt för att uppnå sina drömmar, samtidigt som man ska njuta av vägen dit. Ett budskap som jag faktiskt behövde få just nu, när det är som mörkast och tråkigast.

När jag satt och spanade lite på nätet rörande Dream High hittade jag min favoritscen så här kommer en spoilervarning då videon är tagen i sista avsnittet, även om den kanske i sig inte avslöjar så mycket om historien innan: 

Ikemen Desu Ne

De senaste dagarna har jag då lyckats tagit mig igenom denna serie som är den japanska versionen av You're Beautiful. Till en början gillade jag den inte särskillt, kanske för att jag älskar den korenaska versionen så det kändes som om inget annat skulle kunna mäta sig med den. Och nä, det gjorde den aldirg heller. Men dock så fanns det ändå något, jag såg ju trots allt igenom hela serien ^__^

Så vad var då det där något? Humor i första hand, de har verkligen den där härliga emellan-åt-humorn som jag älskar. En scen kan vara jätteseriös och sen i nästa ögonblick avslutas det med ett gag. På ett bra vis. Det handlar om balans och det har serien.

En annan sak är Tamamori Yuta som spelar den manliga huvudrollen Ren, han är en skådespelare som växer på en. Från början tänke jag att han bara är en söt kille men han är duktig på det han gör också. Hans sneda leende gör ju inte det hela sämre. Dock kommer han aldrig kunna slå Jang Geun Suk som spelar den motsvarande rollen i You're Beautiful (Jang Geun Suk i mitt hjärta<3).

En sak som jag visste inte skulle kunna överträffas, var den otroliga buss-scenen (de som sätt You're Beautiful vet vilken jag menar) och självklart gick det inte, men den var dock helt ok den med. Något som jag faktiskt tycker att Ikemen Desu Ne gjorde bättre är när tjejen som spelar Mio/Miko ska spela sin riktiga tvillingbror, det blev inte lika öppenbart som i You're Beautiful att kroppen inte var hennes, dock tänder jag faktiskt lite på Park Shin Hye när hon spelar Go mi Nam, det gör jag inte på Takimoto Miori  när hon är Mio.

Vad tyckte jag allt som allt? Jo, serien är helt okej att se, har de vanliga med drama och kärlek med lagomt med humor. Dock, om man väljer mellan den koreanska och den japnska versionen, välj den koreanska! You're beautiful är lite mer förfinad även om det i det stora hela är samma historia.

Awkward

När jag såg postern på denna serie trodde jag inte att det skulle vara något för mig, den känns för överdriven av bara bilden. Ack så fel jag hade! jag har nu slukat de tio första avsnitten och jag älskar den. Massa skratt och pinsamheter men inte på ett sånt där "så-pinsamt-att-man-mår-dåligt"-sätt. Jag tror jag hittat en ny favorit, att det dessutom är korta avsnitt gör att man kan inta serien i sådana doser som man känner för. (även om nu jag ser allt i ett svep när det är så bra).

Handlingen då, jo det handlar om den där osynliga tjejen i skolan, den som ingen någonsin vet vem det är. Av en ren olyckshändelse faller hon i badrummet och skadar armen rätt rejält (som ni ser på bilden) och samtidigt får det hela se ut som om hon försökt tagit självmord. Plötsligt vet alla vem hon är i skolan och det är inte ett särskillt bra sätt att bli känd på då inten verkar tro att det var en ren olyckshändelse...

Nu ser jag fram emot att fortsättningen ^___^

City Hunter

Den senaste veckan har rätt mycket tid lagts ner på den Sydkoreanska serien City Hunter och därmed har jag praktiskt taget suttit och fangasmat över Lee Min-Ho som spelar den manliga huvudrollen som Lee Yoon-Sung. Han är riktigt jäkla cool! Dessutom spelar han utmärkt ;)

I vilket fall, serien handlar då om denna kille, Lee Yoon-Sung, som har infiltrerat "The blue house" sydkoreas presidentresidens. Han är nämligen ute för att hämnas på en grupp politiker som för 28 år sedan dödade 21 av sina egna soldater för att mörklägga ett misstag. Men allt är inte så enkelt som han hade tänkt sig, speciellt inte när han dessutom träffar en tjej...

Tjejen spelas av Park Min-Young och måste väll vara en av sydkoreas sötaste tjejer? Dessa två skådespelare utgör ett fantastiskt gulligt par. Men trots att hon är så söt så blir inte hennes karaktär jobbig som annar är rätt vanligt. Nej, karaktären är fylld av en egen styrka och mod och som gör att man faktiskt tänder lite på henne med xD

De här 20 avsnitten är helt underbara, fyllda med intriger, action och kärlek i perfekt balans. Den rekomenderas starkt!

Jercho

Jag har de senaste månaderna emellanåt kollat på Jericho hemma hos J-chan. Nu har jag äntligen haft tillfälle att se klart hela serien. OCH GUD SÅ BRA DEN ÄR!

Två säsonger är den tråkigt nog bara på, men det är en verkligen spännande serie. Det handlar om en lite stad i USA, Jericho, och en total katastrof. De 8 (tror i alla fall att de var 8) största städerna bombars av en varsin atombomb och plötsligt befinner sig hela landet i krig. I en liten stad som Jericho är det svårt att veta vad som hänt, än mindre vem fienden egentligen är. Det startar en kamp. En kamp om överlevnad. en kamp för rättigheter och en kamp för frihet.

Man fäster sig för de flesta karaktärerna och en av mina absoluta favoriter blir Mimmi. hon växer verkligen. Från att ha varit en inbiten strostadsmänniska och ensamvarg får hon lära sig att anpassa sig och uppskatta livet som Jericho har att erbjuda.

Serien har också vissa punkter som faktiskt är riktigt egna. Bara att ha avsnittstiteln i kod. För att inte tala om själva handlingen som inte är riktigt som något jag sätt tidigare. Det blir bara mer och mer uppenbart för varje avsnitt.

Så som ni fårstår så är detta en väldigt bra serie som jag skarpt rekomenderar!
