Japanese food I would like to try

Lately I have found myself googeling pictures of japanese food as a way to pass the time until our trip to Tokyo. I hope that my money are going to be enough because I want to try everything. Here's some sample of what I have found that I would like to try:

Udon (Kitsune Udon in the picture) is one of the noodles I want to try!

Then yo have Ramen, the skinnier noodle from China

Soba noodles, also a japanese noodle

Yakitori, grilled chicken

Tempura, deep fried seafood and veggies

Okonomiyaki

Gyoza, japanese dumplings

Gyudon, rice and beef, a kind of donburi ("bowl" or "bowl of rice").
It is said to be very cheap so maybe we will be eating a lot of this?

I really love Japanese curry and plan on buying a lot with me home <3

I make my own omurice at home but it would be good to try the real deal ^_^

So these were some of the things I would like to try. Besides this I want to eat Korean BBQ, a lot of the stuff they have in konbini and a lot of sweets. Maybe I will make a new post about some of them? Do you have an suggestion about other things I should try? Please leave a comment! ʕ´•ᴥ•`ʔ

Kim Sung Kyu - I Need You

After my long post about Kim Sung Kyu's 60 sec I decided not to make another one based on his new song I need you. And I didn't, until now! I can't help myself, I am really in love with his voice >__< 

This video isn't as interesting and as good as the last one even if the use f black and white in the beginning of the video matches the feeling, and the change to color is good for the feeling as well. It hasn't so much of a story but instead it is held up with the lyrics. The song is basically about needing strength and and help from another person in dark times, a really sad message. The melody is easy and sad but also a little bit uplifting and hopeful as well, something that hits me right in the heart. You throw away all your carefulness because the need of another person is so strong that nothing matter any more.

The reason that I can't stop myself from posting about this song right now is that it really matches the feeling I usually have this time of year, right after new year and before spring. It is sad and cold but at the same time a bit hopeful with the sunshine coming back and a whole new year ahead of us. I somehow compare the way this song makes me feel right now with the way Big Bang's Blue made me feel last year even if Blue wasn't released until 21 of February and I need you was released in December. Blue was pure awesomeness and I need you can't really reach the same level but the both have the same feel about them and Kim Sung Kyu have a beautiful voice.

Say "I love You"

I have finaly started watching anime again! It has been so long sience the last time, I doesn't even remeber when. But I found a anime that really sounded nice and now I have watched all the episodes out yet. 

The serie is called Say "I Love You" and is a sweet love story about a girl, Mei, who is really quiet and doesn't have a lot of friends and a guy, Yamato, who is really popular with the girl but haven't found the one yet. One day Mei explodes over another guys prank and she tries to roundhouse kick him but end up hitting Yamato instead. Yamato is surprised and starting to getting interesting in the wuiet Mei after the way he saw here emotions explode and he wants to get closer to her.

This is the start on there love story. The anime is a shojo with a lot of romance and a slice of life-feeling over it. Some maybe would think that it is boring just focusing on there relazionship but this is the kind of story that I can find so much feeling in. When the story is calm and sweet it is easy to compare your own feelings to the ones in the serie. 

Another thing I like is the boldness that is lying underneath the story. Already in the first episode there is talk about sex and a lot of kissing going on. I really like a story that begins with kisses and not ends with it, it makes it more realistic and matches my thoughts about love.

So are you after a sweet love story with a lot of usual twists? watch Say "I Love You". I myself is maybe going to start reading the manga by Hazuki Kanae while I am waiting for the next episode on crunchyroll.

A lesson about bullying

Yes, this week I started my first "internship" as a high school teacher, For five weeks I am going to make lessons and hopefully teach the students something. So today I was going to work on one of my assignments for next week but unfortunately I got stuck on Youtube instead. Maybe because I realized that there are so many good videos out there that you can use in the classroom as a way to make the subjects a little bit more interesting.

Anyhow, I was watching "Teens React" and one episode is about Bullying and the video made by Amanda Todd. Maybe you don't know her? Amanda Todd is a girl that made a mistake in 7th grade that hunted her for years, she was bullied and got sick and depressed. She made a video that she and told here story through notes for the whole world to see. she wrote about being followed by the bullying, trying to commit suicide and hurting herself. About a month after posting the video online she did committed suicide and the video got a lot of views.

This got me thinking. I would really liked to talk about this in class someday. Bullying is important to talk about as a way to defeat it and I would want my students to get active to prevent it. So instead of making the lesson I had to work on I made one about bullying instead. I am going to share these with all of you and I would get really happy if you used the idea!

Bullying

Video: Amanda Todd - My Story 

Intro: Start with asking the kids if they know about Amanda Todd and her video on Youtube, just as a way to start up. If no one knows her just let it be with saying that you are going to show them the video. If someone do knows just say good and show them the  video as a way to refresh there memory. 

After the video is done you hopefully can get some different reactions from the students. Maybe someone feels sad and maybe a couple of them don’t really know why this is something you show them. Now is a good time to ask them “what did you think?”. After some short answers you can inform them that one of the reasons this video has so many views on Youtube is because the girl really did committed suicide about a month after the video was posted online. This will hopefully get there attention and they are ready to discuss.

Questions to ask:

•  Why do you think she posted this video?
•   What do you think about the “friends” that followed her with their bullying? Were they really hoping for her to end her life?
• Could anyone have prevented this?
•  Why didn’t anyone do something?
•  Why do you thing that a lot of people online post comments to the video saying: “she deserved it” and “she was the one that made mistakes and killed herself”?
• Why did the video get so much attention?
• Can you see tendencies to this kind of bullying in your life? 
• what would you do if it happened to you? how would you feel?
•  What can you do about bullying?

After this you can make a follow up assignment for this class. Maybe you ask them to make something to show that they care about people, like writing a text themselves or together, they can make their own video and post online, find out information about who you can contact if someone is getting bullied or anything other just to spread the word. That way they get the inspiration to do something creative and at the same time learn something about bullying.Of course you can get a spin on the lesson just to make it fit the subject that you are teaching, a video or a text can be a language-assignment and not just about bullying.

Chibird made my day!

Thanks to Teri i found chibird.tumblr.com and I think that made my day yesterday. The page is full of optimistic and nice messages, pictures and animation and there style is so nice. Of course I am now following the page!

I have rather recently completed the manga High School Debut by Kazune Kawahara. It feels nice to have one more completed manga in my bookshelf I usually tend to by the ones that looks interesting and I want to read right now so I usually have a lot of different series started but not that many completed. I buy new series in between. High School Debut is one that I have been reading for two-three years now at least. Finally it is done! 

The manga itself is an ok story, the main character is Nagashima Haruna, a girl that just begun her first year of high school. She is a bit of a tomboy and have been a lot int softball in middle school. With her new high school debut she wants to start over, find a boyfriend and fall in love. But it is kind of hard for a girl who doesn't know anything about boys, fashion or love to transform herself but as it happens she meet a guy named Yoh one day, a boy that is really popular, and Haruna decides that if he is willing to coach her she may have a change to make the debut that she wants... 

As you can understand the main genre is shojo romance, exactly what I like to read, and the story is intriguing and fun and makes it stand out in the marsh that shojo manga sometimes is. The drawing style is also something that i like (even if I sometimes doesn't like the things beneth Yoh's eyes) and that makes the reading much better.  Overall it is really a manga that I can recommend.

You friend the videogame companies

A friend on Facebook posted a link to some fun and really accurate pictures of how the gaming companies would work if they were your friend. She find the pictures on Svampriket, a swedish gaming blog, but they had taken them from Dorky so go there to see them ;)

Mitt liv är ett skämt

I really like stand up comedy and have now started to watch Mitt liv är ett skämt, a swedish television production where well known artist/idols/famous people in Sweden get to try doing stand up. Some of the episodes are fun ^__^

A task from Julia Cameron found its way to me

Today a friend of mine shared this picture on Facebook. The text originates from Julia Cameron's book Låt din kreativitet flöda (~Let your creativity run wild) and is in fact an assignment for the reader to once in a while stay up late and read a book that you really want to read instead of reading something you must or go to sleep like a good person. The main point is that a lot of people finds themself lacking the energy to do what they like after a day or a week of hard work and that they get unhappy beacuse of it. one night of disobedience is not worlds changing but maybe something we have to treat ourself to once in a while. 

I recognized myself in the text and the things I, the last couple of days, have been writing about. So maybe I will try this on myself, just to know if it makes me feel better. Chose a good book that I have been longing for and stay up with some candy or other and read without a care in the world. A lot like I used to do when I was younger. I doesn't sounds half bad!

The Glass House

The Glass House är första delen i bokserien The Morganville Vampires av Rachel Caine och i början av boken får man möta sextonåriga Claire som precis fått sina kläder stulna ur tvättmaskinen i studenthuset där hon bor. Japp, hon är sexton år men så smart att hon nyligen fått börja på college. Hennes föräldrar lät henne med nöd och näppe flytta hemifrån och det är anledningen till varför hon för närvarande bor och studerar i staden Morganville i Texas istället för på någon större och mer privilegad skola (som hon egentligen vill).

Tanken är att ge henne lite tid att i lugn och ro lära sig att ta hand om sig själv istället för att släppa iväg henne allt för långt bort från hemstaden. Vad de inte vet är att det sällan är lugn och ro i Morganville, något Claire börjar bli varse först genom översittaren och supermobbaren Monica och hennes anhängare men som blir allt tydligare när hon plötsligt blir jagad av vampyrer och blir omhändertagen av tre ungdomar i The Glass House, varav minns en av dem visar sig ha en stor hemlighet. Hur ska hon klara av skolan, hålla föräldrarnas oro i shack och samtidigt lära känna sina nya vänner när ingenting längre är som det borde?

Handlingen och sättet att skriva boken gör att man lätt sugs in i historien. Det är någolunda lättöverkomlig engelska och storyn kanske främst riktar sig till ungdomar och övre tonåren. Detta innebär inte att jag inte satt fastklistrad vid boken och läste ut den på ungefär ett och ett halvt dygn. Det rä ganska självklart att jag kommer skicka efter nästa del i serien nästa gång jag skickar efter böcker. Den avslutades trots allt med en jäkligt stor cliff hanger, något jag gärna stör mig på men samtidigt inte kan låta bli att bli lockad av.

Vea's otakuliv den senaste tiden

Egentligen borde jag bara plugga plugga plugga men kände för att skriva en liten uppdatering av vad som sker i mitt liv just nu ;) (allt för att slippa läsa etikböckerna...)

För det första så är jag i fullt sjå med att välja ut en lolitaklänning jag vill köpa åt mig själv, har tänkt satsa på ett b-märke till att börja med, har inte pengar till mer, och ni får säga vad ni vill åt det! jag har inte påstått att jag är en äkta lolita och jag kommer heller inte göra det. Tycker bara stilen är söt och jag vill ha något eget. Bilder och funderingar kring exakt vad det blir kommer sen ^__^ Fortsättningsvis har jag i alla fall dessutom valt en peruk från gotic lolita wigs som jag skickat efter, dels till min framtida lolitaklänning men också för att jag bara kände för att äga en ;) Förra veckan fick jag också hem min ögonskuggepalett så jag har ägnat de senaste dagarna åt att leka lite med färger, jag blir så glad av dem alla \\(◕w◕)//

Igår vad jag och M till Stockholm en snabbis, vilket resulterade i att en massa massa pengar spenderades på SF... Jag köpte äntligen Arrietty och ska hittat något offer att tvinga att se den med mig, sen köpte jag också B.O.D.Y 2, Kimi ni Todoke 4, Happy Hustle High 2 och en ny manga som heter Monkey High!. Varför är det så många böcker i början av serierna kanske ni undrar? För närvarande är jag mest inne på att köpa Black Bird och Dengeki Daisy men jag har av någon anledning kommit ikapp utgivningen på de serierna så de nummer som de har på SF står redan i min bokhylla. Därför var det ett ypperligt tillfälle att börja köpa på de serier som stått stilla allt för länge här hemma! Dessutom kom ju monkey High! med där också även om jag lovat mig att inte börja någon ny serie. Den var för lockande helt enkelt ;)

Utöver mangan och filmen köpte jag även två böcker; Magic Bites av Ilona Andrews (som stod på rekommendationshyllan tillsammans med några av mina andra urban fantasy-favoriter)  och Morrigan´s Cross av Nora Roberts. Roberts är en av mina favoriter när det gäller kärleksromaner och jag gillar speciellt hennes romaner med lite fantasyinslag, så att äntligen komma över en av hennes äkta fantasyromance-serier kändes väldigt bra. Jag ser fram emot att läsa dem båda när jag väl får tid...

Nu borde jag återgå till pluggandet, jag ska nämligen lämna in ett PM på 3000-4000 ord på fredag. Ska peppa mig själv med lite semla idag då det trots allt är fettisdagen. Önska mig lycka till!

P.S. Teri tipsade mig om förhandsspelningen (skriver man så?) av BIGBANGs nya låt Blue, vilket nu kommer gå på repeat här hemma hela dagen. Jag gillar den verkligen och väntar med förväntning på fortsättningen! D.S.

Jercho

Jag har de senaste månaderna emellanåt kollat på Jericho hemma hos J-chan. Nu har jag äntligen haft tillfälle att se klart hela serien. OCH GUD SÅ BRA DEN ÄR!

Två säsonger är den tråkigt nog bara på, men det är en verkligen spännande serie. Det handlar om en lite stad i USA, Jericho, och en total katastrof. De 8 (tror i alla fall att de var 8) största städerna bombars av en varsin atombomb och plötsligt befinner sig hela landet i krig. I en liten stad som Jericho är det svårt att veta vad som hänt, än mindre vem fienden egentligen är. Det startar en kamp. En kamp om överlevnad. en kamp för rättigheter och en kamp för frihet.

Man fäster sig för de flesta karaktärerna och en av mina absoluta favoriter blir Mimmi. hon växer verkligen. Från att ha varit en inbiten strostadsmänniska och ensamvarg får hon lära sig att anpassa sig och uppskatta livet som Jericho har att erbjuda.

Serien har också vissa punkter som faktiskt är riktigt egna. Bara att ha avsnittstiteln i kod. För att inte tala om själva handlingen som inte är riktigt som något jag sätt tidigare. Det blir bara mer och mer uppenbart för varje avsnitt.

Så som ni fårstår så är detta en väldigt bra serie som jag skarpt rekomenderar!

Grown Ups

Jag såg filmen Grown Ups ikväll, hemma hos en vän. Det är en film jag velat sett ända sedan den kom på bio men inte varit tillräckligt taggad för att ta tag i det. Nu är det dock gjort och jag blev faktiskt inte missnöjd ^__^ 

Så vad handlar den om? Fem män, lagkamrater i ett vinande basketlag som ung, träffas åter igen när deras coach ska begravas. Deras liv har förändras drastiskt, familj, barn... De beslutar i alla fall att över en helg bosätta sig tillsammans i en stuga som de bodde i som ung och lär känna varandra igen. Och sig själva...

Lättsam humor och cool musik gör filmen till ett glädjepiller. En del skämt och händelser kanske ibland känns lite överdrivna och för "amerikanska" men det gör inte saken värre i det stora hela. Filmens standard höjs också i och med skådespelarna. Jag skrattade i alla fall högt flera gånger och kan lätt rekommendera den till de som vill ha en lättsam komedi att kolla på.
